At CMA the mission is to secure the future of the arts in New York City by creating a place that inspires and reaches out to the next generation of artists and art lovers through community programs.

So when they had their annual art auction earlier this month, Jessie James just had to be there. And what an honor it was to mingle with members from New York City's worlds of fashion, finance, and art all there in support of art for our city's children. With art up for auction that had been donated by the likes of the Andy Warhol Foundation, Yoko Ono, and Sophia Coppola, it was certainly the charity event of the season that was not to be missed.

Spotlight on Designers: Tibi's First Shoe Line

Amy Smilovic first launched her brain child, Tibi, in 1997 while living abroad in Hong Kong with her husband. And, in what seemed like an instant, the contemporary women's label shot to the top of the fashion world, largely due to its effortlessly chic image and luxury construction. So, when we heard Tibi was adding a shoe line for F/W 2011, we had no doubt these babies would be beautiful. And, of course, they are!

We here at Jessie James love uninhibited creativity and the freedom of expression, which is exactly what drew us to artist Meghann Snow. A New York based artist who was trained in classical ballet and professional figure skating, Snow combines dance performance and abstract expressionist painting to create works of art with her feet. She starts every performance by constructing ballet shoes out of bubble wrap and masking tape, and from there the show goes on, ending with a completed work of art. She calls it Dance Drawing. We call it brilliant.

"We don't see beauty as serious. You shouldn't really talk about it so much, as it then becomes vain. Beauty has always been important for artists and it will always remain that way. Still, it changes from person to person and over time. We try to bring out the inner beauty in women, so that they stop being just models. It is about finding their inner energy," says the couple.

And capturing inner beauty is what their doing in their new coffee table book, Beautiful Women of the North, despite the fact that their subjects are clothed solely in the classic beauty of Chanel. Inside or outside, its all beautiful to us.

Not even the heat could stop fashion goers at the Lincoln Center. A Mariachi band & the vibrant prints brightened up a room. The collection was full of floor length dresses & jumpsuits topped off with a beautiful caftan. The hair was styled up & high with strips of the prints woven in along with the occasional feather or plant. The platform sandals finished off each look with ease. The standingpresentation provided an intimate feel that reflected a restful approachtowards a spring line-up. The cool mixtures of blue felt calming, while thepops of orange with neutrals felt refreshing. The juxtaposition of the relaxedapproach of the presentation with the upbeat, fast music set a special tone forthe beginning of fashion week. spiced pumpkin lattes, why not make a delish afterdinner martini! I mean who doesn't love a little dessert drink to warmthem up as the nights get a bit chillier!

INGREDIENTS:

1 Small Brewed Espresso

(add spiced pumpkin simple syrup at coffee shop)

2 shots Stoli Vanilla Vodka

2 shots Van Gogh Vodka Espresso Vodka

1 shot Bailey's

Caramel Syrup

Chocolate Syrup

Whipped Cream

Chill martini glass

Pour into a mixer & shake all ingredients

Add caramel & chocolate syrup to the bottom ofthe chilled glass

Pour shaken ingredient into the chilled glass

Add whip cream sprinkle on some more chocolate orcaramel syrup.

We were craving a glass of sangria the other day, but since the $8 pitchers at Southern Comfort are only offered on Tuesdays, we decided to do some research & make our own. Normally, we're a white wino & even more, normally, we're a champagno - so you can only imagine how elated we were to stumble upon this recipe for a white sparkly sangria. It's super easy to make & even easier to drink.

White Sangria Sparkler Recipe

Ingredients:

1-2 bottles of crisp white wine

2 ripe local peaches, sliced

1 pint raspberries

2 kiwis

 several sprigs of mint  Stevia

Method:

Simply add the sliced fruit and mint to the wine & add several squirts of NuNaturals Alcohol Free Stevia until desired sweetness is reached

Let sit for at least an hour in the fridge to let the flavors infuse. In the summertime, it’s also nice to freeze half of the fruit & add right before serving so they act as ice cubes in the Sangria.

The Bubbles Tickle My Nose

One of the top five reasons we're not ready for summer to end: Rose wine! Although chilled & straight up is usually our quick & preferable preparation method, this lychee bellini is a fun, fizzy twist.

Ingredients: Sparkling Rose Wine, Chambord, lychee nuts (the cute little brown & pink prickly covered fruits in the produce aisle).

Step 1: Peel & pit your lychees (about 10 per 2 drinks)

Step 2: Reserve a lychee fruit or two for garnish, and toss your the rest into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth & liquid.

Step 3: Fill champagne flutes with lychee puree. *The full directions advise you to strain the puree and remove any solids. I chose to forgo, a. because I'm lazy and b. because I like the chunks anyway.

Step 4: Top each glass with sparkling rose wine until just about full.

Step 5: Finish with a splash of Chambord, smile, and enjoy!

There's only so many times that a Patron margarita on the rocks can be ordered before you really start urning for some versatility. We found an amazing recipe, but didn't have all of the ingredients so we worked with what we had. Get the real deal at Gramercy Tavern created by Jim Meehan.

Muddle blackberries & strawberries in your shaker

Squeeze in half of a lime

We're please to announce a pop up gallery event at Bar 89 tonight, Thursday, August 11th. The event is one night only where the restaurant is turning into a gallery to celebrate the opening of the ceiling instillation and painting by artist Hideki Takahashi (MoMA PS 1). The artist uses denim as a canvas to create graffiti like images of cows inspired by a trip to a farm in upstate New York.

This opening is curated by our dear friend Cristian Vargas and will serve as an inaugural event for Gallery 89. Complimentary wine and cash bar provided by Bar 89, and music by EDG4R (Team Rojas/Miami Players Club.)

So it's that time of year again... Gather up your hipster attire as we trek you midwest to the Windy City of Chicago for Lollapalooza. We were very excited for this three day music festival. We couldn't bear the thought of missing out on Eminem, Fitz & the Tantrums, Foster the People, Cee Lo, Ellie Goulding, Explosion in the Sky, Muse, Cold War Kids, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, The Pretty Reckless, Girl Talk - well, you get the picture.

Need a little tune to get you in the groove? Think Simon & Garfunkel 'Rosemary and Thyme'... It's sure to get you in the "swing" of things - at least that's what we did.

Thyme Lime & Lemonade

Squeeze lime juice in a bowl with fresh thyme sprigs.

Add lemonade & refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight.

Add vodka.

Serve over ice with thyme sprigs as a garnish.
